Wat Suan Dok temple in Chiang Mai

Posted 1 year ago by avatar house in response to avatar connie's question: I'll be in Chiang Mai for only one day. Can you recommend a temple to visit? (give a different answer) .

All wats in Chiang Mai are worth a visit and especially Doi Suthep, but my favourite was Wat Suan Dok, a little out of the way of tourists and not too far way from town (aprox half a mile west on Suthep road). You can see Wat Doi Suthep from this temple. There are many small white stupas (chedi) containing the remains of royalty members and the highlight is an old bronzed Buddha image. I enjoyed my visit here because I could talk to the novice monks studying at the Buddhist college on the premises, they're really friendly, open and glad to practice their English.
