Try the Ban Don hotel on Na Meuang road, it's a cheap place with small rooms, but if you're only sleeping there you won't mind it very much. In the morning you can have breakfast at the Chinese restaurant downstairs - the rice and noodles are very cheap also. I have their phone number (07727 2167) but I guess you can show up and ask for a room, it's not a very popular stay with tourists.
